No, no..I'm not blogging about any busybodies here. It's just that this body of mine is acting up. I'm down with flu and I'm at work not because I want to but I have to. Given a choice I want to stay at home and sleep but the magazine's deadline is just round the konar...bleaagghhh...

So excuse me if I don't update this space for a while.....

WE BID FAREWELL....

My brother in law left for Murdoch University, Perth yesterday ... Of course some tears were shed, he'll be away for 2 years and I guess life won't be the same for my parents in law without him around the house. So here are some pictures taken from yesterday's goodbye...

SHOPPING FEELING

Oh boy, the shopping feeling is here with me and it's not a good sign. I'm not a shopaholic but once I start to shop it seems very hard to stop. There's always something to buy wherever I go and it's burning a hole in the pocket.

Of course, when you 'autograph' the slip after each purchase at the cashier, the feel of the purse or wallet isn't lighter since you didn't use those dollar notes but the REAL TRUTH will surfaced when the plastic card bills come to you before the month end. That is where reality sets in, see how much you've spent and start to feel the pinch and go OUCH!

Painful isn't it?

PEN PALS

Reading The New Paper story on Sunday of tai-tais looking for Vietnamese husband reminds me of this PEN PALS column i use to take charge while working with Classified Ads of this newspaper called WEEKENDeast.

Male and female single, divorcees, widows, widowers will call up or come down personally to our office at News Centre to place their advertisements. For example, the ad will read like this:

SINGLE MALE, 38, looking for female friends for companionship. Please write to P.O.Box xxxx.....

Letters will come in for them and I will redirect all the correspondences to the respective advertisers.

At times I became an aunt agony, when they called up to place an ad, they will also pour out their problems to me. Like what am I going to do?

Though, there's this particular Malay man who will come down personally to our office but I really wish i could just disappear whenever he turns up. He was Mr Singapore I think in the 60s and will be so proud of it telling me of his glory days. He even had a photocopy picture of him in that bodybuilder pose that he insisted on putting it in the ad. He look and dress funny. And when he comes wearing his really short sports short i like wanna DIE!!!!

He was also coaching tennis and his daughter was then a well-known tennis player. So besides advertising for pen pals column, he was also looking for people to learn tennis from him. Euwww..i wouldn't even think of learning tennis if he was the coach!

I've seen him in Geylang. He had set up his own little space with his music keyboard and various photos of him in picture frames surrounding his space. It's at the traffic light crossing over to Joo Chiat Complex. Spot the big umbrella sheltering him and his possessions.

And good thing he don't recognise me...cos if not I'll *rrrrruuuuuuunnnnnn*

SPIDEY OUTFIT FOR NEO HA NIU & TAN EE JAT

I'm sure most of you have seen Spiderman 2 by now and I know you've been gushing and salivating at the sight of Mr Spidey or Tobey Maguire in that suit.

And someone is really in love with Spidey that Im loaning this out to her, meant for her other half to dress in the Spidey costume and make Spiderman comes out ALIVE right before her eyes!

The complete costume includes the mask and gloves that have sound effects too!

NEO HA NIU & TAN EE JAT THIS IS ESPECIALLY FOR YOU! Hee!

SAY CHEEEESSSSSEEE

Made an attempt to take my own passport size photograph for Farah since a colleague of mine did that for her daughter. Might as well try and will save a trip to the photo studio. Wishful thinking!

And I thought it will be easy! After looking at the result I gave up.

Farah, look here.. no...no..not the other way!

Ah, this is better but wait where's your other ear?

Photo studio here I come!

So yesterday before coming to work I brought her to this shop near my mum's house and the guy was saying..your baby has to wear white and you've got to either wear white too or bring a white cloth with you so when the baby sits on your lap, we'll have a white background! I know about the white background ruling but white clothes and cloth, what's that all about?

Went to another shop..YOKA Photo Studio, opposite AMK mrt station. It's been there for ages. The interior has been redecorated though I felt it looks more like an office rather than a photo shop. And they want to charge $20 for 8 pcs of passport photographs! Why so expensive I asked? It's been our price for the last 10 years they say! I don't mind the 8 pcs but for that amount, gosh...MAHAL NAK MAMPOS!

Looks like I'll have to take a trip down to Lavender and do everything on the spot. Hmmmppphhh!

THE ONE WITH THE HOT LUNCH DATE

Had the chance to meet up with the ONE and ONLY SUNGGUH HOT BABE, Nat, for lunch yesterday. Finally, we meet as planned and not like the other two occasions, it seems that we are destined to bump into each other in the MRT. That was a good lunch Nat, and we'll do it again soon okay!

Will you have Margaret Lee or Me?

JOB TALK

Farah had her jab yesterday that she didn't have a goodnight sleep last night, which means neither did I. So am feeling pretty groggy this morning but my magazine's deadline is just round the corner!

Already dragging my legs to work, I was told that our GM is leaving us, end of this July. Then, another rude shock came my way....someone else is also resigning. Too much too handle this morning that I don't know whether to feel happy, sad or shocked that they're leaving. Making me hope though, somehow there will be a better opportunity out there for me.

Don't get me wrong, I like the job, but being here way too long is already making me feel very stale. No more excitement, no more passion and no more challenge! It's become so routine, moving in and out of deadlines month after month. *Yawn*

Though I must say, working in the media line this long, have given me lots of opportunities to see many things, meet different sorts of people with funny, weird, likeable, unlikeable, hateful characters along the way. And also not forgetting the experiences I've gained.

Still, I really feel it's time to move on, maybe?
